France, the Alsace Wine Route in Spring
Saturday 13th May 2017 to Saturday 20th May 2017 : 8 days
Based in Colmar, the Alsacian wine capital, close to the petite Venice area. Some of the highlights of this tour are exploring the famous wine route with its charming flower bedecked villages and vineyards, the Munster Valley, cycling along the foothills of the Vosges, the Colmar canal and the Rhine.
Staying near to the petite Venice area of Colmar and as the name suggests it is reminiscent of Venice and its canals. This part of France is very Germanic in its architecture and has lots of attractive timber framed houses bedecked with flowers. The scenery ranges from vineyard trails and canal paths to forests and the Vosges. One of its famous citizens is Albert Schweitzer who was born in Kayserburg, a very pretty village which we will visit among others.
