Germany for Families
Sunday 6th August 2017 to Sunday 13th August 2017 : 8 days
Join us in a converted German watermill complex, close to former East Germany. Daily circular rides to windmills, former green zone and historic towns. 50-55kmpd. Plenty of outdoor pools and cyclepaths. An ideal introduction to cycling abroad in comfort. Families with children only please.
This is the tenth year of this type of tour based at a Chateau/historical site, and the fifteenth of its type offering the opportunity to tour abroad in comfort, in the company of other families. It follows a tried and tested format, where families set off together at about 0930, visit a cafe, then a place of interest and then another stop in the afternoon returning about 1700. After this the children get together and play whilst the adults chat, drink a bottle of wine and generally relax knowing that the children are having fun. The ages range from 6 months to 18 years with the commonest age being between 12 and 15. Our children go as well and this year Louise is 17. Any combination of bicycle is welcome, from kiddiback tandems, trailers, tag alongs to children on their own bike. I do ask that if children cycle on their own bike that the parents keep an eye on them. The pace is relaxed and I will keep everyone broadly together. However route sheets and gpx files are provided so if you wish to stay awhile at a location, you are most welcome. The location I have chosen is a Watermill complex. There are pictures of the holiday four years ago at http://www.cyclingukholidays.com/Germany-2013 I hope you like the look of the holiday, but please email me if you have any questions.
