France, Normandy D-Day Beaches
Sunday 2nd September 2018 to Saturday 8th September 2018 : 7 days
3-star Appartments. Visiting D-Day beaches Omaha, Juno, Gold, Sword, Arromanches, Pegasus Bridge and the Atlantic Wall Bunker. Also the mediaeval town of Bayeux famous for its Tapestry and old buildings. Visit to a cider and Calvados tasting farm. Plenty of time to see the monuments, easy pace, tandems and E-bikes welcome.
This is the 74th Anniversary year of the D Day Landings and a visit to Point du Hoc where 200 American marines climbed the cliffs to take out the German gun post, the beach where “Saving Private Ryan” was made, Arromanches where the remains of the Mulberry Harbour are, constructed in England for the invasion, the return to the ferry will be via the Atlantic Wall Bunker time and time has been allowed to visit this site. No visit to Normandy would be complete without a visit to Bayeux famous for its Tapestry and medieval half-timbered buildings typical of the area, and to round off the tour a Cider Calvados tasting is planned at a local orchard.
