Richard is a keen cyclist, riding regularly and leading day rides with local clubs and a British Cycling Accredited Level 2 Coach. He has toured extensively in Britain and 23 other countries, including many in Europe, USA, Cuba, Turkey, India, China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Albania, New Zealand and Australia (including Tasmania). He has been leading CTC tours since 2010 and has ridden over 95,000 miles during the last 20 years. Richard likes to experience different cultures and enjoy dramatic scenery, especially that of the Far East, having a preference for worldwide tours. Several Sportives have been on the calendar for several years, especially those for Charity fund raising, and he rode the 200km 1st Stage of the 2007 Tour de France from London to Canterbury and has ridden many Cols in the French and Italian Alps. He is a founder member of the very successful Clitheroe Bike Club and leads a club ride each week in the Ribble Valley and Yorkshire Dales. His other interests are collecting and riding old bicycles, motorcycles, cars and tractors, photography, short film making and charity work through Rotary.
